Job Description

Position Description: 

We are looking for a seasoned public relations specialist. As a PR Specialist, you’ll use your storytelling and analytical skills to drive awareness  in the fashion and eyewear industry. This will include building campaigns, partnering with our e-commerce and logistics teams to find interesting story angles and working cross-functionally to execute integrated marketing efforts. In this role, you will be leading the execution, and later on, creation of PR objectives, strategies and tactics to generate new and consistent coverage. A successful candidate understands the media landscape, is quick to catch newsworthy trends and can spin-up a compelling story to a positioned as trusted resource amongst media and consumers. You will report directly to the Marketing Manager. This is a remote part-time Contractor position.



● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

● Proven ability to work independently and manage a workload of multiple projects in order to meet deadlines efficiently

● Proven experience in message development


Creating press releases

● Experience in external communications other functions within corporate communications (i.e., public affairs, digital/social media, etc.)

● Must provide resume, and portfolio of PR work

● Ability to use discretion when presented with sensitive or confidential issues



● BA/BS in Communication, Journalism, or related field

● 3-5 years of PR, media and corporate communication experience in the fashion industry


Bonus Points:

● Experience working at a PR agency or other client-service oriented role

● Experience in crisis communication or issue management a plus

● Fluency in Japanese, Chinese, or Spanish


Deliverables (Types of projects, etc):

● Boost the coverage of the company in the competitive media landscape

● Build and execute the media strategy, including messaging tracks and media targets

● Serve as a counselor to the organization’s business leaders to inform and execute a media approach for key moments in time.

● Develop and maintain relationships with key media outlets, securing high-quality coverage on an ongoing basis

● Prepare talking points and messaging materials for media engagement for organization announcements, initiatives or campaigns

● Support development of external materials for the company narrative, including messaging platforms, press releases/alerts/blogs, media pitches, reactive statements and Q&A documents

● Create and manage timelines for communications projects to ensure deadlines are met 


Essential Skills:

● Excellent writer and editor with advanced understanding of writing for AP style

●Experience working with media and serving as a spokesperson for both print and broadcast outlets, including on-camera if necessary

● Relationships with regional (Bay Area and Los Angeles) and national media outlets, including top-tier fashion, technology, lifestyle and design journalists

● Understanding of media and public relations measurement to track and quantify impact

● Demonstrate sound judgment and critical thinking skills
