We are seeking an experienced Junior User Interface (UI) Designer to join our digital team. This role works in tandem with our UX strategist and web developers toward our ultimate goal of
bringing brand-focused communications strategies to life on the web—in collaboration with our strategy team and graphic design team.
Our web team is responsible for website discovery and investigation, information architecture, UX design, and front-end and back-end development. We offer WordPress development in house, and work with dedicated partners to execute on a wide range of platforms, including Drupal, SiteCore, Blackbaud, and more.
Develop mockups and prototypes in collaboration with design team that meet the needs of a variety of audiences and the client’s overall brand strategy across all viewports
Work closely with internal development and design teams to ensure flawless integration with back-end technology and a great user experience
Prepare thorough documentation of design assets for hand-off to development team; work in close consultation during front-end development to recommend and refine the design and interaction touchpoints
Maintain expert knowledge of and advocate for user experience best practices
Communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
Lead the design quality assurance process and UAT reviews
Collaborate with the content strategy and information architecture leads to ensure content needs are matched with thoughtful and usable design
Ideal Qualifications / Expertise:
Minimum 2-3 years of professional design experience, agency preferred
Experience using Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision DSM, or other tools, to create pattern libraries or design systems for website implementation
Experience applying responsive design and accessibility (WCAG) best practices
Experience collaborating with developers and other designers
Ability to work in a flexible environment between multiple teams; willingness to help teams create ideal workflows and process improvements
Passionate about finding solutions to complex problems through beautiful and intuitive design
Organized, efficient, and able to manage multiple and complex projects
Act as “go to” with in-depth knowledge of user interface best practices and standards
