Job Description

One of our digital-first Richmond, VA clients is looking for an talented UI/UX Designer. The Designer will join the product team focused on creating amazing experiences on their consumer-facing website. 

  • Hours: ​Full-time
  • Location: ​on-site in downtown Richmond, VA - NO REMOTE CANDIDATES. 
  • Duration: 6 months with potential to extend


  • ​5+ years' experience in UI/UX design
  • Proficient with Sketch and Invision
  • Experience taking projects from lo-fi prototypes all the way to final, high fidelity designs. 
  • Able to engage users in order to document their needs. Capable of understanding those needs and articulating them into an experience strategy. 
  • Prior experience planning and conducting user research
  • Previous experience conducting research via or Ethneo is a PLUS


  • The UI/UX Designer will be a member of the product team focused making key usability improvements to the company's consumer-facing website. 
    • The product team includes a product owner, front-end developer, and back-end developer
  • Create intuitive and elegant product design solutions that solve complex consumer problems and drive business results 
  • Communicate solutions to your product team in a manner that simplifies complexity and generates excitement 
  • Participate in user experience research to understand consumer needs, opportunities and pain points to continually inform an iterative design and discovery process 
  • Collect and synthesize qualitative and quantitative research to inform and validate design decisions  
  • Collaborate and partner with Product Managers, Designers, Analysts and Developers throughout the discovery, design and development process 
  • Create visual artifacts to articulate, inform and validate ideas with consumers and stakeholders (prototypes, wireframes, sketches, journey maps, personas, etc.) 
  • Create detailed design deliverables utilizing and contributing to the CarMax design language system and pattern library 
  • Stay current on all the tools, principles and practices in product design, prototyping and development, and drive for continuous improvement 
  • Participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions that are organized and productive 
  • Advocate for high standards of excellence in providing delightful and rewarding user experiences, and proactively support the team in achieving them 
  • Hand off final designs to Dev team for coding and implementation on the site.
